CRATER LAKE, Ore. ---Smoke from the Middle Fork fire burning east of Prospect has entered the southern edge of the park.
Fire crews have set up a second base camp at the park's south entrance.
Verne Farrell says, "As of now our infra red flight that we had last night it was 18,159 acres total and we think about 2,000 acres of that is in the park."
The park will remain open but visitors say the lake is not what they remember.
Bill Pitts says, "Well it's a disappointment as you can see. I've been here many, many times and it's always sunny and clear and of course the view isn't quite as immense without that sunshine."
Cooler temperatures and damper conditions are expected.
