When ODOT undertook it’s 10 year, $1.3 billion OTIA III State Bridge Delivery Program, it knew it would face a myriad of challenges. When ODOT needed to replace a bridge located in some tough topography and keep Elkton connected to the rest of the state, the agency used ingenuity and a little heavy lifting. On the weekend of May 9, ODOT rolled a new bridge into place on the east end of the Elk Creek Tunnel – saving the community six months of traffic delays.
Watch the bridge roll in time-lapsed photography and learn more about this innovative approach to transportation infrastructure improvement.
