City Council Endorses DREAM Act

By Jeff Skrzypek

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Eugene City Council joined the ranks of many other cities, including Portland, Monday night.

It passed a resolution supporting the Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors or Dream Act.

Councilor unanimously approved the bill which helps immigrant children adjust their citizenship status based on their plan for higher education.

The council's approval of the DREAM act doesn't have any bearing on federal legislation, but it acts more of a support tool for the resolution.
