Teen Arrested After Crash Near Vida

VIDA, Ore. -- A Eugene man was arrested by Oregon State Police after a two-vehicle traffic crash on Highway 126E near Vida.

 

According to OSP, at approximately 4:10 p.m. Sunday, a 1995 Acura Integra driven by Jacob A. Curtis, age 19, was traveling westbound on Highway 126E when it crossed the centerline and crashed head-on with an eastbound 1996 Nissan.

 

The Nissan's driver, 63-year old Candace Lee Chitty from Eugene, was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with serious injuries.

 

Curtis was also taken to RiverBend with minor injuries. After he was treated and released, state police arrested Curtis and lodged him in the Lane County Jail for the following charges:

 

* DUII

* Reckless Driving

* Recklessly Endangering Another Person

* Assault in the Third Degree

 

He was also cited for Failure to Drive Within a Lane, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, Minor in Possession of Alcohol, and Refusing a Breath Test.
