Residents Mourn the Death of a Myrtle Point Student

MYRTLE POINT, Ore. -- Myrtle Point High School has canceled all basketball games and wrestling matches for Saturday, January 2nd, the same day that a celebration of life service will be held for one its students.

 

Family and friends are mourning the loss of Nick Harrison, a Myrtle Point High School senior, who passed away Tuesday night at OHSU in Portland. According to the Myrtle Point School District, the reason for his death is unknown. Nick had attended Myrtle Point Schools since kindergarten. The school district released this statement about Nick:

 

"Nick's sense of humor could always bring a smile to your face. He was well loved by students and teachers alike. He was involved in the culinary team all four years at Myrtle Point High School. His love for cooking and the culinary arts were apparent by his enthusiasm to participate in coming cooking competitions."

 

Nick's celebration of life service will take place Saturday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m. at Myrtle Point Christian Assembly, 1121 Bothwick in Myrtle Point.

 

Next week, Myrtle Point High School plans to hold a student memorial at the high school.
