Civil War Prank Gone Too Far?

ALBANY, Ore. -- Wildlife advocates are disappointed in someone in the Corvallis area, who they say took a Civil War prank too far by painting a duck orange.

The mallard, which has been named "Bill," was found near the Linn-Benton County Community College on Thursday before the big game. Bill was completely covered in orange paint, and his feet were bound together with duct tape.

Staff at the Chintimini Wildlife Center says Bill is on the road to recovery, but that it will take some time. Several days and several baths later, you can still see traces of orange paint on the duck. The paint stripped Bill's feathers of their oily coating, which means he will likely stay at Chintimini through the spring, until he can molt.

Chintimini employees say it's bad enough that someone spraypainted the duck, but it's even worse that they bound his feet with duct tape and left him for dead. Beaver fans in the area say they're disappointed someone went outside the lines of friendly competition.

If you have any information about who is responsible for painting the duck orange, you're asked to call the Wildlife Center or the Albany Police Department.

KEZI 9 News Reporter Heather Hintze will have a full report on Bill and his recovery at 5 and 6.

Poor duck

I wanted to clear up some missed information about "Bill" He was found AT Linn-Benton Community College, wandering around the parking lot and grounds and captured by employees. This poor duck. It is sad to think that some people think that this is a good way to show support for your team. I hope they are to catch whoever did this to an innocent animal.
