"I Love My Ducks" Shirts Fly Off the Shelves

By Dan Corcoran

EUGENE, Ore. -- It will to be tough to miss seeing any "I Love My Ducks" t-shirts at the Civil War game. Thousands have been sold in just two days, and there is no sign of sales slowing.

The shirts are simple, green and yellow with the words "I Love My Ducks." It's a phrase that may sound familiar to you. It's been copyrighted by three UO students after their music video went viral online. The group, Supwitchugirl, helped design the shirts.

Since they went on sale Tuesday, Duck Store employees can't seem to keep them in stock. Printers are churning the shirts out and making deliveries every few hours.

The shirts will eventually make their way to Duck Stores in Portland in Bend. Right now, the priority is to serve the crowds of customers at the three Eugene locations.

"We cannot keep them in. The printer cannot keep up with demand. We've sold somewhere between four and five thousand shirts already and we got them in about noon or one o'clock yesterday," says UO Duck Store General Manager Jim Williams.

The printing firm actually ran out of the green t-shirts Wednesday. So, they were told to start printing on black shirts. There are a few hundred of those out there as well.

A portion of the shirt sales go to the shirt's designers and slogan owners who are of course those three UO seniors. The students' t-shirt contract with the Duck Store runs through June of next year.
