Timber Prices Rally, Recovery in Sight?

By Brian Schiedel

EUGENE, Ore. -- There may be some good news for the timber industry in Oregon, as it's being reported that timber prices have risen nearly ten percent from one year ago.

The Eugene trade publication "Random Lengths" reports the price of framing lumber rose about 9.7 percent from 2008 because production has been slashed to meet demand.

Other timber analysts say there are signs of an industry recovery in store for next year, but that doesn't mean companies will increase production.
