UO Cheerleader Hit Speaks Out

By Gia Vang

EUGENE, Ore. -- The cheerleader who was hit in the head after Oregon's game against Arizona says she's on the road to recovery.

Saturday's game got intense when the Ducks beat the Wildcats in double overtime. Fans started throwing trash and debris and some of that hit Katelynn Johnson. The senior Sociology major from Thurston says the area she was hit on her head remains tender.

Johnson said she fainted while getting back on the field. She was carted off the field to a local hospital. She says she doesn't know what hit her, but that no one is to blame.

Johnson hopes to be back cheerleading by Saturday's basketball game.
