Roseburg Man Arrested For Possession Of Counterfeit Music CDs

By Sabina Rosu-Urdes

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Copying music without written consent or being in possession of counterfeited music is against the law, and a Roseburg-area man learned that the hard way. Rios Murillow, 25, was arrested by Oregon State Police Monday afternoon when he was found in possession of over 270 counterfeit music CDs.

OSP Fish & Wildlife troopers first spotted the man engaged in what they believe was suspicious activity. Murillow was with several other males near a vehicle in the 1300 block of NE Stephens in Roseburg. After approaching the vehicle, troopers noticed two large boxes of music CDs in the trunk.

Troopers turned over the matter to the OSP Criminal Investigations Division detectives, who later discovered the 272 music CDs were counterfeit.

Murillo was arrested for Theft in the Second Degree, Unlawful Sound Recording, and Unlawful Labeling of Sound Recording. He was booked and later released from the Douglas County Jail.
