Marcola-area Man Dies After Logging Accident

MARCOLA, Ore. --A Marcola-area man is dead after a logging accident Monday afternoon.

The man was killed while cutting firewood. It happened around 2:30 p.m. just off of Hileman Road, outside Marcola.

Friends say the man was cutting firewood in a grove of trees in the family's hay field.

One of the trees they cut didn't fall the direction it was supposed to and somehow hit the 75-year-old man. He died shortly after.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
