YACHATS, Ore. -- Authorities are still searching for the two fishermen who went missing Wednesday night.
Bill Vodewick, 62 and Nick Lutz, 24, were headed to one of their favorite fishing spots, but they didn't return home.
Linn County Sheriff's Deputies and Coast Guard crews have been sweeping the area, but now the people who knew both missing men are lending a hand.
Armed with binoculars, they are trying to make a difference in the search. The deputies say that with the recent stormy weather, it's possible that a rogue wave came out of nowhere and knocked into the men.
Though they're hopeful, they understand that even the most experienced fishermen often are no match for the power of the ocean.
Initially, the Coast Guard search was confined to the ground because of the weather. Yet with more cooperative skies, they are able to fly over the area with their chopper to aid in the search.
