Coast Guard Searches for Missing Fishermen

YACHATS, Ore. -- The Lane County Sheriff's Office and the Coast Guard are searching for two men who have not returned from a fishing trip off in Yachats.  The two were reported missing Wednesday night.

Bill Vodewick, 62 and Nick Lutz, 24, are reported to have been fishing from the shoreline in the area. A vehicle belonging to one of the missing persons has been located close to the area they were reported to have been fishing.

Overnight, weather conditions were reported to have been very stormy, with high winds causing beach access to be very limited. The Coast Guard has flown the area and has not located the two subjects. Lane County Search and Rescue members are in the area with a ground crew and are continuing the search.

KEZI 9 News Reporter Jeff Skrzypek will have an update on the search tonight at 5 and 6.
