COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. -- The city of Cottage Grove has lifted its notice to boil drinking water in the city's northeast portion, after test results showed no harmful bacteria or contaminants.
A storm on Monday night caused a power outage at the Row River treatment plant, which may have led to a contamination of the area's water supply. The city announced the water warning on Tuesday the 17th, then they informed residents to boil their drinking water until test results showed whether or not the water was actually harmful. Now, boiling water is no longer necessary.
City staff are working with the Row River Valley Water District to prevent future issues. Additionally, the Water District and County are working on ways to expedite the process to get the needed improvements at the Layng Creek water treatment facility underway that would eliminate any future similar occurrences.
