SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Neighbors call it a betrayal of trust and a huge shock: a Springfield man is accused of sexually abusing several young boys, investigators say those victims were the suspect's own foster children.
Police say the 26-year old suspect sexually abused young boys who were placed into his home as foster children. The man met the boys at a private facility for emotionally-disturbed children where the suspect worked for about three years. Joshua Thomas Friar was arrested on Saturday after police searched his home in the 600 block of 41st Place and a previous residence on 17th Street, both in Springfield.
Detectives say Friar worked at Jasper Mountain treatment facility in Lane County since 2006. They say it was there that he identified vulnerable young boys, and then later requested that those boys be placed in his home as foster children.
The first known victim told police he was sexually abused while in Friar's care. DHS removed three additional young boys living with Friar until this week, though there is no evidence that those three were also victims of the crimes that friar is now facing.
An investigation was launched on November 10th after one of the young boys came forward to a DHS caseworker, and even more victims will likely be identified soon.
Joshua Friar is now facing multiple sex-related charges. His bail is set at nearly $2 million.

Is there something in the water???????
What is wrong with him? How could he betray those kids like that. Child molesters should have their own special kind of torture. I know kids who have been at Jasper. This just makes me so sad and angry.
