FLORENCE, Ore. -- High winds hit the coast Monday with gusts in Florence up to 50 miles an hour.
Yet the windy conditions didn't deter some folks from heading to the beach to watch the waves. The storm is coming from the Gulf of Alaska, and winds were expected to get stronger throughout the night.
Just before the sun went down, a few people were at the beach to watch the waves crash against the jetties.
While the surf wasn't as big as they expected, those at the beach say this is still their favorite time of the year.
