City Seeks To Change Land Use Codes, Wants Your Input

By Paris Jackson

EUGENE, Ore. -- Changing land use regulations within the Eugene city limits will be the focus of three public hearings Monday night. The Eugene City Council wants your input on any potential changes.

The Infill Compatibility Standards (ICS) Task Team has worked to address the city's building code for the last few years. The ICS will present three recommendations.

City planners said in the Jefferson/Westside neighborhood, one proposal will require new developments to mimic house size and heights of homes that are already in the area. Staff said the current zones aren't adequate in preserving the neighborhood.

The second proposal focuses on reductions in building heights in the most populated areas West and South of the University of Oregon.

The third proposal will address an increase in parking for apartments with three or more bedrooms near the UO and require less parking for low income housing throughout the city.

Eugene City Council will hold three public hearings at 7:30 p.m. Monday, inside the Council Chamber at 777 Pearl Street. Click here for more information on the recommendations.
