Solid Sales For Holiday Show Vendors

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Food and Gift Holiday Show closed its doors at the Lane County Fairgrounds Sunday, but vendors went home happy.

That's because many said they their sales were solid and there was plenty of foot traffic.  Show owner Stephanie Floyd said almost 10,000 people came through the show this weekend.

Floyd said that might also have to do with making admission free this time around compared to previous years.  She said they are trying to accomodate shoppers with less money to spend.

And several vendors said shows like these are exactly where folks watching their dollars are coming.

"This is because of the economic times that they're coming to these shows.  They are looking for these bargains that's why we have more traffic in them," vendor Bob Spencer said.

And other vendors are happy they haven't been in the red.

"All the boats are floating about the same and this is kind of what we're experiencing that the genereal pace of things is roughly equal," vendor Curt Cleveland said.
