Thousands Gather for Vet's Parade in Albany

By Jeff Skrzypek

ALBANY, Ore. -- Thousands of veterans representing all branches of military and spanning several generations, along with their supporters, turned out to attend the annual Veteran's Day Parade that went through the streets of Albany.

Spectators came out in the wet weather and lined the streets of downtown Albany to honor the men and women who are currently serving or who have served in the military.

Many veterans say they were honored by the amount of spectators who took the time to head out to the parade and show support for veterans in Oregon.

The event is billed as being the largest Veteran's Day Parade west of the Mississippi River.

Organizers estimated that roughly 40,000 people would attend the event. Oregon Senator Ron Wyden also made an appearance at Wednesday's parade.

After the parade, spectators gathered at the Linn County Court House for an ending ceremony and awards presentation.
