Retailers Prep For Black Friday

By Paris Jackson

SPRINGFIELD/ EUGENE, Ore. -- We're about 3 weeks away, until the busiest shopping day of the year---Black Friday. Retailers are busy getting ready for the Black Friday crowds. Merchants have been preparing for several weeks in advance in the Eugene and Springfield area. Retailers say the biggest priority is having enough staff and merchandise on the biggest shopping day of the year.

DEB clothing store managers said their employees are briefed on how to handle large groups of customers.

Meanwhile, JCPenney's store manager said they started planning four weeks ago and the meet weekly to perfect their strategy. JCPenney's is receiving it's major holiday merchandise now and it will continue coming through Christmas.

Over at Best Buy, new employees have gone through rigorous training. Managers said inventory is coming in and they want to make sure they have enough for customers.

All three stores emphasized the importance of having good customer service. Something all three say they already have in place.

Price Alert Web Sites

I save quite a bit on black friday last year -- and it definitely looks like stores are going to be marking down their prices pretty dramatically again this holiday :-).. In addition to actually going to the stores on black friday, I also like using online price alert sites to find deals. I've already made a list of the gifts i'm buying for my family at ZingSale.com, and now i get an email when any of them go on sale.
