Christmas Tree Farmers Prepare for Busy Season

By Heather Hintze

PLEASANT HILL, Ore. -- Only one week after Halloween, Christmas tree farmers are getting ready for the holiday season.

Farm owners say there's a lot of work to be done in the three weeks between now and the day after Thanksgiving, considered the beginning of tree-shopping season. Northern Lights Farm owner Lynn Schutte is currently marking trees for inventory. Meanwhile, tree farmer George Campbell says he is currently working to clean up all the fallen leaves and pruning the bases.

Farmers say there are a number of reasons people choose to pick trees from local farms, such as knowing their trees are freshly-cut, and knowing exactly where their trees come from.
