Lebanon Bust Suspects: Marijuana was for Medicinal Purposes

By Dan Corcoran

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The pair of Lebanon brothers who are accused of possessing large amounts of marijuana say it's all a big misunderstanding, and that their growing operation was originally legal.

Darrell Olson says he began using the drug for medicinal purposes 15 years ago after suffering from chronic seizures and migraines.  He received a medical marijuana grow card in 2001, but it had expired six years ago and claims he never got around to renewing it.

Darrell and his brother Kyle were arrested on Thursday and face charges of manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana).

The Olsons assert that Thursday's arrest was all a big misunderstanding, and they want to let people know that they're "not the bad guys."
