EUGENE, Ore. -- They have been neighbors for well over 100 years now. Yet despite being a stone's throw from each other, the people who live in Eugene and Springfield don't exactly always see eye to eye.

 

This week we will present a special series on the two cities - examining their similarities, their differences, their histories, and their futures.

 

We start with the stereotypes that have developed over the years.

 

As we continue our special in-depth look at the two cities, we'll take you back in time to see why exactly it was, that not only determined the size of the two, but also laid the groundwork for how we thing of both places.
