EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon gubernatorial candidate Bill Bradbury was in Eugene on Friday, speaking to City Club members and outlining what he would do if he were elected governor.

Bradbury focused his talk on the state's education problems. Bradbury cited school class size, teacher support and inadequate spending as the key weak spots in the state's public education system. The Democratic candidate says it's unacceptable that Oregon has the second largest classroom sizes in the country.

One of the options Bradbury spoke about in gathering more funding for education was to tighten the state's belt on tax cheats. He says that millions of dollars often go unpaid to the state, and that that money could go towards education.

City Club members and other education officials listening to Bradbury's speech say he hit the key marks, but with health care, climate change and unemployment also on the forefront, they say it may be difficult for Bradbury to make education a priority.
