Early Snow Builds Excitement for Winter Sports

By Holly Menino

MT. HOOD, Ore. -- The calendar might read fall, but on some of Oregon's mountains it looks more like winter.

Mount Hood got a hefty dose of snow Monday night, which had many snowboarders and skiers ready to hit the slopes. Some winter sports diehards couldn't stay away, making a trip to Timberline Lodge to play in the snow.

Even with this early snowfall, the ski resorts are quick to say they need more of it before they can open. But that isn't keeping the excitement from building.
