Former Coquille Track Coach Breaks Her Silence

By Lindsey Doi

COQUILLE, Ore. -- Former Coquille High School track coach Wendi Boutiette is speaking out after charges of sexually abusing a former student have been dropped.

Boutiette was arrested in February after the accusations were made.  The case was dropped on Thursday after the alleged victim refused to cooperate with the police investigation days before the trial was scheduled to begin.  In a letter, the alleged victim says he feels harassed, and never intended to pursue charges against Boutiette in the first place.

Even though Boutiette has been cleared of all charges, she says the damage has been done, as the stigma of being arrested and accused will follow her forever.

Boutiette isn't considering pressing charges against the alleged victim.  She says that all that matters now is focusing on the future, and putting the incident behind her and her family.
