Fruit Fly Drills Oregon Crops

SALEM, Ore.-- Fruit crops all across the Williamette Valley are at risk for a new bug that attacks ripe fruit just before it's picked.

 

Unlike regular fruit flies that feed on rotting crops, the Spotted Wing Drosophila prefers ripe fruit, which has killed off nearly 20% of some crops already.
