New Drinking Water Regulations

By Aaron Ofseyer

Eugene, Ore.--The Environmental Protection Agency already monitors around 90 chemicals in our tap water, but now the agency could soon add more than a dozen more chemicals to the list based on hazard to the consumer.

For the first time, the list will include pharmaceuticals, as well as toxic algae. If enacted, the cost of monitoring the new chemicals could be passed on to the consumer. Eugene's drinking water is considered some of the cleanest nationwide.
