Linn County Internet Safety

A little more than a year ago, several Linn County sheriff's deputies responded to an Amber Alert, that resulted in a shoot out. Detective Micah Smith said that experience changed what it means to be a police officer for him.

Computer crimes investigating is one of the fastest growing areas in law enforcement, and these days almost every household has a computer with internet access. Smith decided Linn County needed a change. He's now a full time computer crimes investigator for the Linn County Sheriff's Office. He's also started an educational task force called Tech Smartz, where he travels around Linn County and the state; talking to parents and kids about the dangers that exist on the internet.
