Corvallis, Ore--
Corvallis has new bragging rights. That's because it's been deemed the safest city in the country with a population of less than 150 thousand. That's according to a Farmers Insurance study. Portland based Sperling's Best Places conducted the study. Their owner, Bert Sperling, is an Oregon State University graduate, and says the study is based strictly on the numbers. It included statistics on crime, natural disasters, terrorism risks, education and frequency of property damages. Farmer's spokesman Jerry Davis says the data is used to give people moving to the area facts about their new community.
