Friends Rally Behind Hit and Run Victim

EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene police are investigating a hit and run accident that seriously injured a man in West Eugene.  It happened just before 5:00pm Monday along Bertelsen Road near Wood Avenue.  Police say a black sedan ran into 43-year-old Richard Anderson as he was crossing the street in his motorized wheelchair.  Police have no further description of the vehicle as of press.

Investigators say, the driver fled the scene heading southbound away from the crash.  Tuesday night, Anderson was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene.  Anderson's friends tell us he already struggles with a degenerative bone condition.
