New Transitional Housing for Ex-Lawbreakers

EUGENE, Ore. -- A new transitional housing is brekaing ground in the Echo-Bethel neighborhood Saturday.
 
Roosevelt Crossing is $5.5 million project designed to help ex-offenders transition back into everyday life through help with job search, shelter and social readjustment.
 
Sponsors is the organization backing the project.  Board of Director Richard Green said about 70 percent of the offenders who go through the program, don't reoffend.
 
The Echo-Bethel Neighborhood Association Co-Chair Heather Hannah, said there were initial reservations about the services, but after a year of discussions, she said the neighborhood supports the project and it's goals.
