WINSTON, Ore. -- The Winston Police Department is collecting unused prescription pills to get them out of homes. The agency will dispose of the pills and unwanted medications properly so that they won't fall into the wrong hands. They advise against flushing the drugs down the toilet because it can be dangerous to marine life. The drug disposal program is the first of its kind in Douglas County and has collected more than 2.5 gallons of unwanted pills so far.
