New Security Measures on the Way for Two Springfield High Schools

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Workers have already begun installing a new fence around the Thurston High School campus. The fence is just the first part of the Springfield School District's plan to provide better security at Thurston and Springfield High Schools. School officials say the second part of the plan will be to install card swipes at the gates and require each student to present an ID card before entering the school campus. Some Thurston students question whether the fence is really necessary, saying they feel safe at the school.
