Eugene Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Impersonating an Officer

UPDATE (Friday, Jan. 27): Alloway is being charged on 26 counts of impersonating an officer and one count of obstructing governmental administration in which Alloway was allegedly assisting a citizen with a criminal investigation under the impression that he was a police officer.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A Eugene neighborhood was closed down Thursday afternoon, as police searched for a man wanted for impersonating a police officer.

Daniel Scott Alloway, age 39, of Eugene was arrested, but he wasn't found in the apartment where he lives.

Even though the scene has cleared, police say this situation is still very fluid.

SWAT teams surrounded the apartments at Jackson Street and West 4th Avenue.

They were looking for a man who lived there and was wanted on suspicion of impersonating an officer.

While police were there, they got word the suspect was actually on a LTD bus.

They took him into custody and he is likely tobe charged with impersonating an officer.

The suspect is an actively serving in the National Guard.

Police searched his apartment earlier this week.

They found authentic Eugene Police Department patches, as well as Department of Homeland Security uniforms.

At some point the suspect, who has yet to be named, was also hanging out at a community center.

Police also say the suspect may have conducted several traffic stops.

He had a green Ford Expedition equipped with red and blue lights.

If you were stopped this week by something that sounds similar to this, police say they would like to talk to you.
