EUGENE, Ore. -- It's America Recycles Day. But instead of recycling, students at the Village School in south Eugene learned how to reuse.
They're building a fence made out of mattresses donated by St. Vincent de Paul.
"I would love if they would take away the idea that things don't need to be trashed. They don't need to be put in the landfill. There are other uses for things," said Kevin O'Brien with St. Vincent de Paul.
"I think it was awesome!" said Sequoia.
"I liked all of it. I just like helping people a bunch and recycling," said Emily.
The group only put up four mattress panels Tuesday.
The principal says he plans to put the rest up before students plant their garden.
