Weyerhaeuser's Albany Plant to Close

By Heather Turner

ALBANY, Ore. -- The Weyerhaeuser Co. plant in Albany announced it's closing its doors and laying off 70 people.

The Washington-based company told state officials Tuesday that it will close its engineered wood products facility in Albany.

For the next two weeks, Weyerhaeuser will run limited operations to fill existing customer orders.

Employees were told they would receive their regular pay through Oct. 30.  Some employees will remain at the site after that date to help close the plant.
