UO to Host Cinema Pacific Film Festival

EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon announced its first annual student-run film festival, and they're bringing big names to Eugene.

The Cinema Pacific Film Festival's May 5th kickoff will include the Eugene-based film Chamaco starring Martin Sheen.

Films throughout the five-day festival will also focus on Pacific-bordering countries. The university just launched its Cinema and Media Management Program, and that's why program directors say it's the right time to do this.

"The thought was a public event that really utilized the resources of these programs and made films and film discussions open and larger to the community, it was the right time for this," said Cinema Pacific Director Richard Herskowitz.

Students will also get a chance to work with award-winning film directors for the festival.
