Father and Son in Serious Condition After Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Accident

By Kate Renner

EUGENE, Ore. -- A father and son suffered severe injuries after a pick-up truck struck their motorcycle yesterday afternoon on Highway 99. Police are looking for the driver they say is responsible for the hit-and-run.

Andrew Arbacauskas, age 6, was in and out of consciousness today, after the pick-up truck T-boned the motorcycle he and his dad were riding on. His mom says Andrew's femur and tibia are snapped, but she's thankful he's alive. Andrew's father, Nick is still in the hospital with a shattered arm and leg. Doctor's say he'll need to undergo bone graphs and multiple reconstructive surgeries.

The impact of the pick-up truck crushed his left side and tossed Andrew back 100 yards. "The doctor said if it probably wasn't for the leather, his whole entire arm would have been completely shredded. And it saved his life," says Britney Arbacauskas, Andrew's sister.

"I'm amazed, he's my little tank, I mean he's my little tank, that's my nickname for him, my little tank," says Pamela Rose, Andrew's Mom.

Eugene Police are searching for clues about this hit-and-run. They believe the truck responsible is an orange 1980's model, and may have a tool box in the back bed. Call Police if you have any information.

Also if you want to help the Arbacauskas family with the expected piles of medical bills. Please drop off your donations at Siuslaw Bank under the Nicholas Arbacauskas account.
