Fire Station Wedding in Albany a First

ALBANY, Ore. -- The first day of spring was a beautiful sunny day in Eugene, and it turns out it was also the perfect day for a wedding.

But this wasn't your typical wedding. This one took place inside an Albany fire station.

The groom, who's a firefighter, made his grand entrance coming down the fire pole.

The place has special significance for the couple. That's because Lieutenant Pat Traeger met his bride, Megan Macpherson, a year ago in this exact spot. She's a teacher, who brought her second grade class in for a field trip last March.

"As they came in the door, I saw her and was kind of like 'Wow, she's cute.' And about that time we got a call, and we had to leave. When we got back to the station, I basically got to escort them out of the station, and at that time, I said hi to her and introduced myself," Lt. Traeger said.

He said he called the school nurse to get her phone number, and says he and Megan hit it off.

The two make history, becoming the first couple to wed at an Albany fire station.
