EUGENE, Ore. -- A woman in a wheelchair was hit by a car, then allegedly had her purse stolen.
It happened Friday afternoon on the corner of 13th and Willamette in Eugene.
Witnesses say the woman was going across 13th in the pedestrian crossing when a car turning left onto 13th hit her and knocked her out of her wheelchair. That's when witnesses say they saw a person take her purse.
The woman was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

I drive her to work and am glad she is ok
we have talked about the dangers of wheelchair traveling downtown
as for the truck at the call. there are a two reasons.
#1 manpower. the medic unit only has 2 personnel sometimes more are needed
#2 the truck acts as a shield to protect the scene. as well as the fact it carries extra medical equipment
Are you actually surprised
Are you actually surprised that the victims purse was stolen it's next to the LTD station?
Why does the fire department send a vehicle of that size to a call of this nature? How environmentally responsible and cost effective of them.
Get used to it, this is the culture City Government has nurtured.
