LCC Feasibility Study

By Jeff Skrzypek

EUGENE, Ore. -- Infrastructure and development were at the forefront Wednesday night at a public forum in downtown Eugene.

The talk dealt with a proposal to help Lane Community College upgrade its downtown campus. People involved at LCC and some city officials discussed the project that would essentially fill the infamous pit in downtown Eugene. Residents had a chance to see what the facility could look like and also how much the project could cost.

Mayor Kitty Piercy says Eugene is one step closer to filling the pit.

"I want to see something good happen in that pit, and I don't want to see it filled where it can't happen soon enough. They were talking about the possibility of fast tracking it tonight. I certainly hope that ends up being a possibility," she said.

Mayor Piercy says the downtown LCC project sounds like a promising facility that could do a lot for downtown Eugene.
