Oregon Native Trees for Sale this Weekend

By Heather Hintze

EUGENE, Ore. -- Thousands of trees will be up for sale this weekend at the OSU Extension Office. It's part of the Oregon Small Woodlands Association's Forestry Tree Sale.

Organizers say they cut back on their tree supply this year because of the timber industry.

"The economy and timber and lumbering, housing, it all affects everyone, including us in tree sales," said Master Woodlands Manager Richard Beers.

Last year, they sold nearly 13,000 trees. This year, there will only be 8,000 for sale. The sale lasts from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday in the OSU Extension Service building parking lot near the Lane County Fairgrounds.

All the trees are species native to Oregon including douglas fir and red cedar. Prices range from 50-cents to one dollar each.
