EUGENE, Ore. -- University of Oregon students will soon have a new place to shop.
Goodwill is opening a new store on Thursday just off East Broadway near the UO campus. A company spokesperson says the retailer has been looking to open a store near campus, and when this location became available they couldn't pass it up. The store is stocked with merchandise that will appeal to university students.
"There's a lot of t-shirts, dresses, back packs, small electronics. So, we've merchandised it in a way to make it easy for them to shop for the things they need," said Goodwill Spokesperson Rufina Saiz.
Saiz says with more people out of work, the demand for Goodwill services has increased more than 30 percent. That need is supplemented by retail sales.
Saiz says goodwill has seen a slight increase in donations, and retail sales are up eight percent.
