Coburg, Ore. -- A group of property owners in Coburg is suing the city council and city recorder claiming the wording of a ballot measure concerning a new $25 million dollar sewer treatment system is misleading.
Coburg resident Don Nelson is listed as the plaintiff on the lawsuit filed last week in Lane County Circuit Court. Nelson says he and others take issue with the ballot question set to go before voters in March. It reads, "Shall the city of Coburg complete construction of a wastewater system as currently planned and financed?" Nelson says that is misleading because the engineering and financing of the proposed sewer project has yet to be finalized.
The attorney for the city of Coburg says the city will file a response to this lawsuit. The ballot measure is set to go to the voters on March 9.
