EUGENE, Ore. -- St. Vincent de Paul directors said they'll have to be creative to keep several broken doors locked Monday night. That's after a break-in at their Lindholm site off Highway 99.
Employees came to work to find several doors broken.
Eugene Police say they believe the break-in happened sometime between Saturday and Monday morning. They think the suspect, or suspects, came through the back door, probably forcing it open with a crowbar. From there, several offices were ransacked.
Officers say a brand new laptop, a cell phone, and a check registry book were stolen.
"It's a pity at a time when we're really trying to help so many people, someone took it upon themselves to meet their needs first," said Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul Terry McDonald.
McDonald said thankfully no charitable gifts or food were taken, so they were able still able to hold their Turkey Drive.
He said he believes whomever is responsible was probably looking for items to market quickly.
McDonald said the damages will likely cost thousands of dollars.
