EUGENE, Ore. -- A multi-vehicle accident turned Interstate 105 into a parking lot early Tuesday evening and sent a few people to the hospital.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. between the Coburg and Interstate 5 exits. Police say one car was rear-ended and the momentum sent that car into another vehicle.
Officers tell KEZI 9 News it's always difficult to shut down a major road during rush-hour traffic.
"It gets dark really early in the wintertime," says John Sharlow of the Eugene Police Department. "And, of course, the conditions are very cold tonight. We don't think that contributed to the crash because the roads aren't icy, but working out here, it's obviously very cold. It makes the conditions difficult."
Investigators say they're unsure of exactly how many people were transported or the extent of their injuries, but a mother and a baby were taken in one of the ambulances.
