ALBANY, Ore. -- The Linn County Sheriff's Office has arrested a preschool teacher they say had inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old boy.
Jennifer Stitzel, 34, was arrested Wednesday on two counts of third-degree sex abuse, a Class A misdemeanor.
Detectives were investigating a complaint regarding cell phone text messages containing sexual content being sent from Stitzel to the boy. The boy's parents discovered the text messages and filed a report on November 29.
Stitzel is a preschool teacher at Central Valley Adventist Academy near Tangent, the same school where the boy is an eighth grade student. The investigation has revealed that in addition to the text messages, the woman and boy had kissed and had other inappropriate contact both on and off school grounds.
After Stitzel was booked at the Linn County Jail, she was released and is scheduled to appear December 23, in Linn County Circuit Court.
Stitzel refused to be interviewed. Officials at the school say she was suspended and has since resigned her position as a teacher.
