SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A Springfield home was damaged by fire early Monday morning.

Fire crews were called to the scene just off Main Street near 67th Street at about 4 a.m. about a block from the fire station. That helped limit the damage, which fire fighters say was contained to the garage of the home. All four occupants of the house got out safely.

Jeff Krosner of the Springfield Fire Department says the family won't be able to return to the house for a couple of days, but much of their property can be salvaged.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
