EUGENE, Ore--Time is running out to take advantage of Oregon's Tax Amnesty Program. The deadline to file an application is Thursday.
Almost two months ago, the Oregon Department of Revenue started a period of amnesty. Through the program delinquent taxpayers will be able to avoid penalties and half of the interest fees associated with late filings.
This is your last chance, if you haven't filed tax returns prior to 2008 or for those, who have, but need to amend it.
State lawmakers have collected close to $10 million in revenue. The Department of Revenue's Spokesperson urges Oregonians to get their paper work in.
There's still time to fill out an application and have it post marked by November 19th. You'll then have 60 more days, up to January 19, 2010 to file returns associated with the amnesty application that you fill out," Department of Revenue Spokesman Derrick Gasperini said.
